HANGING JOE BIDEN was an art-criticism/talk-show/concert performance culminating in the unveiling of Biden’s portrait for the Neo-Futurist Theater’s Hall of Presidents. I served as lead writer, director, and performer.

I created individual and collaborative writing exercises to generate the text. We discovered deeply contradictory feelings about our company’s traditions, then drew connections through artistic criticism and our personal experiences of the Biden years, most notably the COVID shutdowns.

During this process we used the frameworks of “Dialectical Bidenism” and “Bidenist Dialectics” to address questions like: What were the Biden years? What does Biden have to do with Shrek? And is this political art, or just pictures of politicians?
