When we paused live performances in 2020, the Neos began making short films following the same weekly cadence and aesthetic principles as the stage show. I wrote and shot 40, and appeared in many more.

My early pieces like HAPPYWORK grappled explicitly with tedium and domestic isolation.

With no prior experience as a filmmaker, I fumbled my way into the basics, sometimes on purpose, sometimes not. In ON PURPOSE RAKE GAG, I took a long walk across the city to step on a rake on purpose.

Eventually I was incorporating tools like shadow puppetry and vintage text design to counter the repetition and screen fatigue.
